All At Once, Eh?

When God seems to throw a whole bunch of tough "life situations" at you all at once, you can look to Him 'cause He's in control. You can remind yourself that He's been with you in the past, is with you in the present, and will be with you in the future. You can claim His many promises through trials and tests because you know it's for your good and His glory. I often find myself giving other people advice about how to cope with trials and the reasons God has for them in their lives...but when it comes to my turn, I have to remember where to turn.
God's Word has all the direction and comfort I need. He promises to lead us and lead He does! (with a few stipulations/requirements on our part). He has always provided for our needs and takes such loving care of us, His children. Why worry about provision of clothing, food, housing, transportation, etc
when we're in the care of the One Who owns all the cows?!  (Psalm 50:10-12)

"Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Here are a couple songs that I've had running through my head. :)

"Stepping in the Light" by Eliza E. Hewitt

Trying to walk in the steps of the Savior,
Trying to follow our Savior and King;
Shaping our lives by His blessed example,
Happy, how happy, the songs that we bring.
  • Refrain:
    How beautiful to walk in the steps of the Savior,
    Stepping in the light, stepping in the light,
    How beautiful to walk in the steps of the Savior,
    Led in paths of light.
Pressing more closely to Him Who is leading,
When we are tempted to turn from the way;
Trusting the arm that is strong to defend us,
Happy, how happy, our praises each day.

Walking in footsteps of gentle forbearance,
Footsteps of faithfulness, mercy, and love,
Looking to Him for the grace freely promised,
Happy, how happy, our journey above.

Trying to walk in the steps of the Savior,
Upward, still upward, we follow our Guide;
When we shall see Him, “the King in His beauty,”
Happy, how happy, our place at His side.
 "For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in His mouth: Who, when He was reviled, reviled not again; when He suffered, He threatened not; but committed himself to Him that judgeth righteously: Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls."~I Peter 2:21-25

"Stand By Me" by Charles A. Tindley
When the storms of life are raging,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When the storms of life are raging,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When the world is tossing me
Like a ship upon the sea
Thou Who rulest wind and water,
Stand by me (stand by me).

In the midst of tribulation,
Stand by me (stand by me);
In the midst of tribulation,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When the hosts of hell assail,
And my strength begins to fail,
Thou Who never lost a battle,
Stand by me (stand by me).

In the midst of faults and failures,
Stand by me (stand by me);
In the midst of faults and failures,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When I do the best I can,
And my friends misunderstand,
Thou Who knowest all about me,
Stand by me (stand by me).

In the midst of persecution,
Stand by me (stand by me);
In the midst of persecution,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When my foes in battle array
Undertake to stop my way,
Thou Who savèd Paul and Silas,
Stand by me (stand by me).

When I’m growing old and feeble,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When I’m growing old and feeble,
Stand by me (stand by me);
When my life becomes a burden,
And I’m nearing chilly Jordan,
O Thou “Lily of the Valley,”
Stand by me (stand by me).

Amen! It's definitely comforting to know He's in control and He is leading. We just need to trust.
