Labour Day...

was not my labour day. :(
our little pirate
Slightly disappointing, but God has a better plan than I can conjure up! We had our Sunday School picnic on Saturday which was great! One bad thing happened though...Lucy got bit by some unidentified creature on her left heel...I got bit on my right heel. Both of our heels turned completely red and weird looking. Mine went away by morning. Hers did not. Experienced and caring fellow moms expressed their concern and our doctor friend took a look. She called in a prescription b/c, news to me, a flaming red heel that is hot to the touch means it's infected!

she's obsessed with walking!

This is the second time Lucy has had to be on antibiotics in her short lifetime, but I think this is the banana medicine kind...which is somehow related to Penicillin...which I am allergic to. Apparently Lucy might be allergic too since she has a rash that is spreading. As per our family dr's orders, we're discontinuing use since Lucy's heel looks SO much better! I'm glad the  fever and vomiting and crankiness are all over with for now! I figure it was a spider that bit us. We got bit by other creatures too, like mosquitoes.  Why do they love us so???

All that so say~For at least 2 days, having a baby wasn't my every second thought. I was focused on caring for Lucy and praying God would heal her poor little body quickly. Having a sick child is just so SAD! Now I'm back to every second thought being, "I wonder if it's baby time?" Especially last night when my body emptied itself of all food contents, that was pleasant. NOT! I thought it might be worth it if it was baby time...but alas, not time. I fell asleep, woke up, and no baby still. I actually didn't sleep very much so today I am conserving energy (story of my life) so I can go help with youth group tonight. I am missing the Pastors and Wives Fellowship as I write, which is sad. It's always so refreshing, a wonderful time of encouragement. Lucy is having a long, much needed nap though which is important too. I'm pretty excited about youth group tonight though! It's the first one since school started and we're playing fun games at the church. Plus, one of my fav girls is bringing some baked goods. She's pro! I made chocolate chip banana bread yesterday and thought it was done, but it wasn't quite done in the middle. Gooey is yummy...raw eggs, maybe not so good? :)

Labour Day was fun, even though Scott had to work and couldn't come with Lucy, the fam, and I. My brother, Shawnie, came and that was great! I'm SO thankful he's home safe from his summer in Germany. He drove Mum's car most of the time, with Shelb in the front seat, and Lucy, Mum, and I in the back seat. Lucy wasn't sick at all for the whole day, until right before bed...when she started with the vomiting. Yuck. I'm thankful that I got to do the comforting part while Scott did most of the cleaning part! :) That reminds me of some verses I read a couple days ago in my devotions,

"But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder"~Mark 10:6-9
(side thought: the verses prior to this, Jesus talks about the hardness of their hearts. I've been coming across this a lot lately in my Bible reading and I really don't want to have a hard heart!!)

I'm so thankful that marriage and parenting consists of two people! The Lord is all-wise and He provides exactly the one we need in a spouse. So glad I finally learned to wait for His timing and not try to make things happen in my way and my time! I love Scott so much and certainly don't tell him enough how thankful I am for him...and not just because he cleans up puke either. :)

We've been keeping very busy, as usual. Next week, Scott starts his fall schedule at the farm and that will mean no more getting up at 3:16AM every weekday!! (Only every second Saturday instead!) I will be thrilled to see my husband somewhat rested. He works too hard, in my humble opinion. We want to take a trip and visit our good friends in Cape Breton, but the baby will be arriving soon and I doubt I'll be in any condition to travel 6 hours in a car with a 15 month old and a newborn...we'll see though! :) It certainly would be worth it, if at all possible!

my new apron from Aunt Liz!

This has been a rambling post mostly of thoughts and updates...You ask, and that's unlike your other posts how? Good point. :) Hopefully my next post will include weight, measurement, and photographs! Plus other small details, like gender and a name perhaps. All prayers appreciated for all parties involved! Thanks! :)

I know exactly how you're feeling! I will be praying for you. Those last few weeks (or months in my case) seem to take forever!

Praying for you....I hate the last month, it's so long. When is your due date??

Thanks for your prayers, ladies! They are much appreciated at this point. My due date is next Saturday, less than 7 days now! :) I know there's a possibility of going over...whatever the Lord's timing is will be best, for sure.

The last month does seem long-- but then you have the baby-- blink-- and she is all ready a month old! I had Madelyn on labor day-- three years ago! Love your blog and getting to "catch up on you a bit".
