Easter Weekend

From her Gram:Lucy's bunny with her dress
Friday morning came pretty early and I woke up at the exact moment that I was supposed to be ready and downstairs starting to eat breakfast. Isn't waking up late so exciting?! Ya, not. I was actually getting stressed when time started to get short...I was way too concerned with Lucy looking perfect in her Easter dress from her Gram. How quickly I forgot the whole reason we were going to the Good Friday service~ To remember the sacrifice Christ made when He gave His life to save me from my sins!
Why is it that the trivial little things in life, like a pretty dress, can get our focus off Christ so easily?

We did make it to the Good Friday service on time, but it was packed! (we couldn't find Mum and Shawnie, so just sat down) Pastor Jonathan Highfill preached such a clear, exciting, and encouraging message from God's Word. By the time we were eating dessert downstairs, Lucy was beyond ready to go home. It was such a busy weekend for one who just got over the flu and now had a bad cold. I am so thankful we could go though. We are also very thankful for her good-natured personality though...we might be in for a real treat with this next one, I kind of fear.

"L" is for Lucy? or Leftovers? :)
Friday night, we went to East Side for Shawnie's going away party...Germany, here he comes! A good crowd were out. We had to leave just as we were beginning our meal. Lucy was not a happy girl and we were not about to be the kind of parents who just ignore their baby whining in a restaurant! We thought she might be teething, but it was a combo of her cold and that she needed a nap. She slept in the car and we tried to pick up a package at the bus station from Lucy's Mammy, but it hadn't arrived yet. Scott got to witness to the guy for quite a while. Seed, planted. :)

Saturday called for Easter dinner at Mum's house. I made a lot of carrots! We had a feast...
we have so much, do we ever stop to thank God for the "little" things? We had a great time visiting with family. Shawn got some money and Lucy showed off her new clapping skills. We also picked up our package from the bus station from Lucy's Mammy. It had all kinds of goodies! :)

Sunday morning also seemed to come quite early. Do you notice a trend developing? Let's just say, we still feel exhausted and out of sorts. This too shall pass, just like my morning sickness, for which I am praising the Lord!!

We had a wonderful Easter breakfast at church and got to sit with Derek and Becky. So glad they came! We had many visitors out too, including a 2 week old baby! She is so cute too, tiny little features. Lucy stared at her almost the whole time, she was very intrigued by someone smaller than her, I think. I hope she likes our new baby when he/she gets on the outside! Can I just say, I love the kids in my Sunday School class, the discussions we get into, watching them interact, etc! The messages on Sunday from Pastor Fosmark were a real blessing and Sunday night was a challenge to me~
How much am I devoted to Christ, really? Wholly devoted or mostly? How does it show in every day life, how I manage my time, what I think about, etc?

Sunday afternoon we had leftovers, carrots and candied yams(from my dear Aunt Liz!). We tried for a little nap. I've been having such troubles getting any decent sleep lately...thanks to aching ankles, frequent bathroom trips, a sore throat, and heartburn. The joys of pregnancy, but at least I'm not couch-ridden anymore! Much to be thankful for!

Scott drew this nice picture for me :)
After the challenging message in evening service and finding out Lucy had her whole bottom done, Scott decided to take me to Montana's!  I needed meat. :) Lucy kept pulling the waitress' ponytail (and trying viciously to eat it!) and attracting a lot of attention, as per usual. The waitress kept saying Lucy was her favourite customer all day. Scott and I enjoyed a wonderful meal and had fun drawing before it arrived. We had some pretzels for an appetizer and shared fajitas with pulled beef . The meal was so good that we didn't have room for dessert! That's saying something.

On Monday, we went to brunch with friends at Cora's and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Then we went for a drive because it was the most beautiful day, and hot too! Then my Seester, Shelbo, called and we had a good chat while Scott and Lucy had a nap. :) We then headed to Scott's dad and stepmom's house for Easter dinner there with some of the family and had a wonderful time! They gave Lucy two new toys which she loves! Afterward, went for another drive, this time to my grandmother's grave in New Scotland. On a really muddy dirt road, a Subaru was stuck at the bottom of a hill. Who drives a nice car into a mud pit? We couldn't help them, Scott said they would probably need a winch.

Notice how much food we ate this weekend? Ya, no wonder we feel out of sorts and exhausted! :) Tonight is my Ladies Bible study, which I am very much looking forward to! Tomorrow is another house showing so I really need to go sweep now. Until next time...
